Kabalah (more commonly spelled Kabbalah) is the mystical, esoteric tradition within Judaism that seeks to understand the nature of God, the structure of the universe, and the inner workings of the human soul. At its core, it is a system of spiritual philosophy, not a separate religion.

🕍 Key Elements of Kabbalah

1. Ein Sof — the Infinite

Kabbalah teaches that God in His ultimate essence is Ein Sof, meaning “without end”—a boundless, unknowable divine reality. Humans cannot directly comprehend Ein Sof.

2. The Sefirot — God’s Emanations

To interact with creation, the divine expresses itself through ten attributes called the Sefirot, often depicted as the Tree of Life. These include qualities like wisdom, understanding, mercy, judgment, beauty, and sovereignty.

3. Foundational Texts

Kabbalah is rooted in several major works:

  • Sefer Yetzirah (2nd–6th century)

  • Sefer Bahir (12th century)

  • The Zohar (13th century), its central text

4. The Soul

Kabbalah describes the soul as having multiple layers (Nefesh, Ruach, Neshamah), each representing different aspects of life, morality, and divine connection.

5. Reincarnation (Gilgul)

Many Kabbalistic traditions teach that souls reincarnate to complete unfinished spiritual work.

6. Purpose: Tikkun Olam

A central idea is tikkun—repairing the world and the self. Spiritual growth contributes to cosmic harmony
